Megastar Sharon Cuneta and her husband, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, have strongly denied allegations linking them to controversial flood control projects involving former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co.
The denial comes after former aides of Co presented a photograph of the couple alongside individuals identified as the lawmaker’s employees during a press conference.
The former bodyguards alleged that suitcases filled with cash were distributed to various politicians and media personalities, attempting to implicate the high-profile couple in the scheme.
Cuneta immediately took to social media to debunk the claims, clarifying that the photograph was taken during a legitimate family trip to Marawi to express gratitude to local leaders for supporting Pangilinan’s 2025 senatorial campaign.
“Mga sinungaling!!!!!!! Sobra talaga kayo!!!!! I vlogged about this visit my family and I made to Marawi to thank the Governor, Mayor, and other officials and their families for their support for Kiko,” Cuneta wrote.
The actress-singer further pointed out the absurdity of the allegations regarding the location of the supposed transaction.
“Talaga ba, magbibigay kayo ng maleta sa amin sa Marawi pa???!!!” she added.
Senator Pangilinan echoed his wife’s frustration and categorically vowed to pursue strict legal action against those responsible for dragging his family into the political controversy.
“Dahil dinamay ninyo pa ang pamilya ko, makakatikim kayo ng hindi pasaring, alegasyon, o palabas na kaso sa korte. Pananagutan ninyo ang paninirang ginagawa ninyo,” Pangilinan stated.
According to Pangilinan, the accusations are part of a orchestrated smear campaign intended to damage his credibility.
The senator noted that the timing of the allegations coincides with his reported appointment as chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Subcommittee, which is set to investigate the alleged irregularities surrounding these exact flood control projects. He dismissed the entire presentation as baseless and malicious.
