VP SARA HONORS MOTHERS’ SACRIFICE AND RESILIENCE

Vice President Sara Duterte celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday by paying tribute to the “emotional and physical labor” of Filipino mothers, sharing her personal reflections on the dual demands of public service and parenthood.

In a video statement, the Vice President highlighted the unique challenges women face in juggling professional duties with the responsibilities of the home, describing the experience as a blend of heavy burdens and immense fulfillment.

“As a mother, I know the weight and joy of our duty — the silent prayers we offer for our children, the long hours we spend ensuring they are safe, and the constant effort it takes to balance work and family,” Duterte said.

The Vice President characterized mothers as the primary educators of the youth and the “matibay na pundasyon ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino.”

She also offered a special tribute to overseas Filipino worker (OFW) mothers, acknowledging the pain of being away from their children to secure a better future.

“Sometimes, the greatest sacrifice is the distance you endure,” she noted, praising their resilience.

Duterte concluded by urging the nation to honor all maternal figures—whether biological or those who have stepped into the role—for their unwavering care and steadfastness.

“Sa lahat ng mga nanay na nagmamahal at nag-aaruga sa amin, maraming salamat sa inyo,” she said.
