Barcelona forwards Ewa Pajor and Salma Paralluelo struck twice each in the second half to seal a 4-0 victory over Olympique Lyonnais in the Women’s Champions League final on Saturday, delivering the Spanish giants their fourth European crown.
Barca had to endure a tense opening period, with Lyon controlling possession and Lindsey Horan briefly putting the ball in the net after 14 minutes. Her effort was ruled out for offside following a VAR review after Cata Coll spilled Wendie Renard’s header from a free kick.
The French side, winners of eight Champions League titles, pressed hard but failed to convert their dominance into goals. That wastefulness proved costly after the break.
Barcelona broke through in the 55th minute when Patri Guijarro surged from deep and released Pajor, who finished clinically from a tight angle. Pajor doubled the lead 14 minutes later, blasting home from close range after being left unmarked by the Lyon defense.
With Lyon deflated, Barcelona took full control. Paralluelo added a spectacular third in the 90th minute with a long-range strike, before capping the night with another goal on the break three minutes later.
The final whistle sparked jubilant celebrations, with traveling fans chanting “Campeones!” (Champions!) long before the match ended as players rushed to join them in celebration.
