TV5 is set to premiere a local adaptation of the globally acclaimed series The Good Doctor, reimagined to reflect the realities of the Philippine public health system.

The series stars Iñigo Pascual as Dr. Luke “Dong” Cruz, a brilliant surgical resident with savant syndrome and autism, navigating the challenges of a tertiary hospital in the country.
To prepare for the role, Pascual immersed himself in actual hospital settings, observing the intensity of the medical profession.
RJ Agustin, CEO of CreaZion Studios, emphasized the emotional weight of the project:
“The Good Doctor is a powerful story of how Filipinos continue to instill hope, even in today’s complex socio-political climate. We believe this adaptation will not only resonate emotionally, but also spark meaningful conversations about public health and the systems that shape it.”
A Local Lens on Healthcare
Unlike Western medical dramas set in high-tech hospitals, The Good Doctor PH will highlight the struggles of Filipino doctors—such as limited equipment in provincial centers and overwhelming patient-to-doctor ratios. Storylines will also tackle issues faced by street children and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Cast member Janella Salvador explained her decision to join the project:
“One of the things that made me say yes is that we haven’t really seen this angle of the medical industry explored in the Philippines… I’m excited to see how they’re going to merge that [international format] with our own Filipino sensibilities.”
Ensemble Cast and Production
Directed by Derrick Cabrido, the series features Ryan Agoncillo (also serving as narrator), Gelli de Belen, James Blanco, and Mylene Dizon.

The production is a collaboration between MQuest Ventures, TV5 Entertainment, and TheIdealFirst Company, ensuring cinematic quality for the TodoMax Primetime Singko block.
Hopeful Realism
By placing an “atypical” hero at the forefront, the adaptation aims to challenge societal perceptions of capability and highlight empathy as a vital tool in medicine.

Production notes describe the series as a tribute to “everyday heroes” working in hospitals across the archipelago.

The Good Doctor PH is slated to premiere exclusively on TV5 in 2026, ushering in a new era of socially conscious primetime storytelling.
