The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has extended the statutory deadlines for filing tax returns, paying taxes, and submitting required documents for taxpayers affected by the recent powerful earthquake in South Mindanao.
Under Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 62-2026, issued on Tuesday, covered tax deadlines falling between June 8 and June 29, 2026, have been moved to June 30, 2026.
The extension applies to all registered taxpayers under Revenue District Office (RDO) No. 110, which covers General Santos City and Sarangani, and RDO No. 111 in South Cotabato.
The tax relief directive followed a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck offshore Maasim, Sarangani, on Monday morning.
According to the circular, the adjustment aims to assist taxpayers whose normal business operations were disrupted and whose access to accounting records was limited due to the substantial damage sustained by business establishments, government offices, and key institutions in the region.
“Through this extension, we hope to provide affected taxpayers additional time and flexibility as families, businesses, local governments, and national government agencies attend to immediate needs and recovery work,” BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza said in a statement.
The RMC covers various tax compliance requirements, including the submission of official register book transcript sheets and monthly e-sales reports.
Under the circular, the extension also includes the filing and remittance of monthly withholding taxes, excise taxes, value-added taxes, quarterly percentage taxes, and one-time transactions.
Taxpayers covered by the circular will not face penalties, surcharges, and interest, provided that the returns, payments, and submissions are completed on or before the new June 30 deadline.
