The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) officially kicked off a special payout on Monday, May 11, providing ₱5,000 in cash relief to thousands of transport workers in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The five-day initiative, which runs until May 15, specifically targets eligible transport network vehicle service (TNVS) and motorcycle (MC) taxi drivers from Grab and Move It who have not yet received their government subsidies.
Major venues including the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, SM Aura in Taguig, and the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan have been converted into distribution hubs to facilitate the rollout.
Assistant Secretary and DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao clarified that the agency is working in tandem with the LTFRB and DICT to ensure that the aid, funded under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program, reaches those hit hardest by fuel price hikes.
“Ang DSWD po ang mangangasiwa sa payout ng cash assistance habang ang mga TNCs naman ang tutulong sa logistical support gaya ng venue arrangements at pag-aayos ng payout schedules ng kanilang drivers and riders,” Dumlao stated.
To maintain order, authorities have implemented a strict “no walk-in” policy. Beneficiaries are required to bring their original driver’s license and a photocopy, while verifying their specific time slots via the official tracker at bit.ly/ClaimingTracker.
“Mahigpit nating pinapaalalahanan ang mga benepisyaryo na sundin lamang ang kanilang assigned schedule at venue upang maiwasan ang abala at mas mapabilis ang payout process,” Dumlao added.
The DSWD noted that schedules for other ride-hailing platforms and delivery riders, as well as those located outside of Metro Manila, will be released in separate announcements. The department aims to conclude this round of the UPLIFT strategy distribution by May 20.
