The upcoming Filipino animated fantasy series “Sun Chaser” is scheduled to debut for free on YouTube on June 22 at 9 p.m. The production features a prominent voice cast composed of local and Filipino-American stars, headlined by Liza Soberano and Manny Jacinto.
The star-studded ensemble also features prominent local and international personalities, including Charo Santos-Concio, Dingdong Dantes, Zia Dantes, AC Bonifacio, KD Estrada, Eugene Cordero, and JR De Guzman.
The narrative centers on Jordan Santos, a teenager whose expectations of a relaxed summer vacation in the Philippines are upended by a supernatural emergency.
Amid the unfolding crisis, Jordan uncovers a vital responsibility to safeguard the boundary separating the mortal world from the spirit realm.
The narrative explores core themes of self-discovery, identity, and personal destiny.
“Sun Chaser is a story about discovering who you are, and what you’re meant to become.”
Members of the cast shared their enthusiasm for participating in the production. Veteran actress Charo Santos-Concio expressed her joy regarding her involvement in the project.
“I’m so excited to be part of ‘Sun Chaser’ and lend my voice to this beautiful story,”
Performer AC Bonifacio emphasized the global collaborative nature and cultural importance of the animated series.
“To be part of this project is really such an honor… it’s not just a project that’s being made here in the Philippines, it’s a project made by Filipinos all over the world,”
Comedian JR De Guzman also praised the collaborative effort and the expansion of representative storytelling.
“So fun working on [‘Sun Chaser’] with such an amazing cast and crew! Great to see more of our stories being told.”
Created by Filipino animators Bobby Pontillas and Bernard Badion, the project is being produced by Manila-based studios Toon City Animation and Playlab.
The producers have described “Sun Chaser” as a milestone achievement for local media—a completely creator-owned initiative produced within the Philippines that draws heavily from Philippine mythology while meeting global industry standards.
To fund future episodes of the series, the production team has initiated a Kickstarter campaign alongside ongoing efforts to secure a long-term distribution network.
