GMA Network is set to bring back its 2021 hit romantic-comedy series First Yaya for a television rerun, marking its return to free-to-air broadcasting after several years.
The popular show features veteran actor Gabby Concepcion alongside Kapuso actress Sanya Lopez. The narrative centers on Melody Reyes (Lopez), a dedicated and ordinary woman who takes on the role of nanny to the children of widowed Vice President Glenn Acosta (Concepcion). Over time, her genuine warmth and sincerity forge a deep connection with the family, which ultimately blossoms into a romance.
The rerun will take over the timeslot of The Secrets of Hotel 88, a collaboration project between GMA and ABS-CBN Studios. The departing series features an ensemble cast of Pinoy Big Brother 2.0 alumni, including Dustin Yu, Bianca de Vera, Will Ashley, AZ Martinez, Ralph de Leon, River Joseph, Esnyr Ranollo, Klarisse de Guzman, AC Bonifacio, Kira Balinger, Xyriel Manabat, Josh Ford, Mika Salamanca, and Brent Manalo. The show is scheduled to broadcast its final episode on Friday, June 26.
Initially, the network planned to debut Love Siargao—a joint venture between GMA and VIVA Communications starring Alden Richards and Nadine Lustre—in that specific programming slot. However, the romantic drama’s broadcast premiere has been deferred due to current exclusivity rights held by its streaming partner, Viu.
First Yaya is slated to begin its second television run on June 29 at 9:35 p.m. on GMA Prime, following the broadcast of Taskforce Firewall.
