MANILA, Philippines — Global architects convened in the Philippine capital on Friday, October 2, for the launch of the three-day Anthology ASEAN Architectural Festival at the Foro de Intramuros.
Centering on the theme “Shared Ground: Care, Culture and Collective Futures,” the 2026 gathering hosts a series of forums where industry experts share design concepts, cultural insights, and strategies for constructing future-ready urban centers.
Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso attended the event’s opening ceremony alongside First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, WTA Festival Curator and Manager Architect William Ti Jr., and Architect Rebecca Ti.
In his address, Domagoso stressed that while Southeast Asian nations possess distinct traditions, they remain bound by common goals in urban development.
“ASEAN shares many experiences. We may have different languages, histories, and traditions, but we also share common challenges, and a common responsibility to build cities that care for people, respect culture, and prepare for the future,” Domagoso said.
International delegates and architects participated in the first day’s sessions to engage in dialogue and exchange fresh perspectives on regional architecture.
The festival runs daily from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. through Sunday, October 4.
