METRO MANILA POLICE ON FULL ALERT FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will transition to a “full alert” status starting at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, to guarantee tight security for the nation’s 128th Independence Day celebrations.

NCRPO spokesperson Major Hazel Asilo announced the heightened security posture during a radio interview, explaining that the measure is vital to ensuring peaceful and orderly events across Metro Manila.

Over 8,000 police officers will be deployed throughout the capital region to monitor major gathering sites and deter any potential disruptions.

According to Asilo, key areas receiving heavy security coverage include Rizal Park, the Bonifacio Monument, and the Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine, all of which are slated to host major commemorative activities. Police personnel will also secure major transportation hubs and primary roadways to assist with both security and traffic management.

To ensure a swift reaction to any developing situations, the NCRPO has activated its command-and-control systems alongside its emergency response assets.

Earlier on Thursday, NCRPO Chief PMGen. Anthony Aberin inspected the Senate grounds and confirmed that security forces would be reinforced around vital government installations and diplomatic offices.

Additional personnel are being sent to the Senate, Malacañang Palace, the House of Representatives, and the United States Embassy. Other strategic deployment locations include the EDSA Shrine, Liwasang Bonifacio, Plaza Miranda, the Quirino Grandstand, and various foreign embassies.

“Whether may threat o hindi, palagi pong handa yung NCRPO, sa anumang pwedeng mangyari,” Aberin said, underscoring the region’s readiness.

Regarding public protests, Aberin noted that no rally permits had been reported or approved as of Thursday morning. However, he emphasized that police forces will exercise “maximum tolerance,” permitting citizens to hold assemblies provided they adhere to legal boundaries.

“Pababayaan natin ang mga kababayan na magpahayag ng kanilang mga saloobin at damdamin. But of course, with the agreement na dapat sumunod sila sa mga pinapairal na regulasyon at policies at saka sumunod sila sa batas,” Aberin added.
