Renowned comedian Michael V., affectionately known as “Bitoy,” delivered a compelling message to the latest batch of graduates from his alma mater, advising them to embrace technology while safeguarding their distinct human identity.
Returning to the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila on Thursday, August 28, as a guest speaker for the institution’s 58th Commencement Exercises, the veteran entertainer addressed students from the College of Education, College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, and College of Science.
His speech focused on the growing influence of artificial intelligence in professional and everyday spheres, offering a clear directive to the Class of 2026: leverage AI as a tool rather than striving to replicate it.
He challenged the graduates to strengthen uniquely human qualities—such as critical reasoning, empathy, inventive thinking, and authentic leadership—that algorithms cannot replicate.
“Yes, AI will probably be here to stay but remember: machines can never live your life for you. Hindi nito kayang mangarap para sa’yo. Hindi nito kayang magmahal para sa’yo. Hindi nito kayang magdesisyon kung anong klaseng tao ang gusto mong maging dahil ikaw lang ang makakagawa noon,” he emphasized.
He further reminded the crowd to keep technology in its proper place.
“Use technology but don’t lose your humanity,” he added.
Concluding his address, the comedian left the newly minted graduates with a clear mandate for their upcoming careers.
“Go out there and make yourselves impossible to replace.”
