The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) restored normal, full-line operations at 6:57 a.m. on Wednesday following a technical glitch that disrupted commuter travel earlier in the morning.
Train delays began at around 5:50 a.m. when the Department of Transportation (DOTr) implemented a provisional service loop, restricting train runs strictly between the North Avenue and Shaw Boulevard stations. The operational adjustment was made to allow maintenance teams to repair a track issue discovered between the Buendia and Guadalupe stations.
While regular train intervals have resumed, MRT-3 management apologized to the public for the travel disruption and maintained that commuter welfare continues to be their top priority.
To ease the post-glitch congestion at platforms, the rail management deployed additional resources to handle the morning rush hour.
”Crowd management measures continue to be actively implemented to ensure passenger safety. Train deployment is likewise being managed to better accommodate passenger demand,” the MRT-3 management stated.
The rail disruption coincided with heavy vehicular congestion on the roads, as southbound traffic along the EDSA-Ortigas Flyover crawled at a slow pace earlier this morning.
To compensate commuters for the inconvenience, the MRT-3 management announced that it will provide free rides to all passengers starting at 12:00 p.m. today until the end of the operational day.
