NEGROS OCCIDENTAL KICKS OFF DISTRIBUTION OF ₱171-M RICE AID TO THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES

BACOLOD CITY — The provincial government of Negros Occidental has commenced the rollout of ₱171 million worth of rice assistance, targeting 125,735 low-income households across 12 cities and 19 municipalities under the national government’s Bawat Bayan Makikinabang Program.

Acting on the directive of Governor Bong Lacson, provincial authorities partnered with local government units and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices to organize barangay clusters, ensuring a systematic and orderly distribution process for qualified residents.

The relief operation kicked off on Monday in Murcia and Candoni, followed by rollouts in Pontevedra and Don Salvador Benedicto on October 13, and La Carlota City on October 14.

Funded through the national government’s Local Government Support Fund-Financial Assistance, the Families Food Assistance Rice Distribution Project provides a 10-kilo sack of rice to each beneficiary household. The program is designed to alleviate the financial burden of food expenses and uplift vulnerable sectors across the province.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II emphasized that the provincial administration remains proactive in securing and properly executing national support programs to ensure aid successfully reaches its intended recipients.

The provincial government announced that distribution schedules for the remaining municipalities and cities will continue rolling out in the coming days.
