NEW KABAN HOTEL AND CASINO IN BORACAY EXPECTED TO BOOST LOCAL ECONOMY AND TOURISM

BORACAY ISLAND, AKLAN — The launch of the new Kaban Hotel and Casino Boracay is expected to revitalize the local economy by creating thousands of jobs and drawing foreign travelers to the island.

The newly opened Kaban Hotel and Casino Boracay, which officially launched on Sunday, October 11, represents a multibillion-peso push to expand the island’s tourism offerings beyond its famous beaches.

Situated at Station 0 in Barangay Yapak, the six-story integrated resort spans an 88-room hotel and a 2,000-square-meter gaming floor licensed by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

Kaban President and Chief Executive Officer Kevin Wong shared that the group has poured approximately ₱3 billion into the initial two phases of its 10-year development blueprint, which covers the resort and an upcoming open-air shopping center called Boracay Central.

The funding is sourced through a combination of equity and financing from the Philippine Business Bank.

Developed by Golden TW Realty and Development Corporation, the multi-hectare luxury complex houses 150 slot machines, 10 gaming tables, a spa, gym, sports bar, pool deck, VIP lounge, and multiple dining outlets including a Skybar.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco noted that the property currently provides work for 520 individuals, with 40 percent originating from Aklan province. The project aims to scale up its workforce to nearly 1,200 employees, offering a timely boost to a region where economic growth slowed to 3.3 percent in 2025.

Malay Municipal Mayor Frolibar Bautista welcomed the large-scale investment for expanding the municipality’s tourism value and entertainment portfolio.

“Kaban is a welcome addition, providing both local and international visitors with new opportunities to enjoy world-class entertainment, dining, and leisure,” Bautista said.
