Quezon City will implement a temporary ban on alcoholic beverages on Monday, July 27, to ensure peace and order during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa.
Under Executive Order No. 24, signed by Mayor Joy Belmonte, the sale, distribution, and public consumption of liquor will be prohibited starting at 12:01 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on the day of the address.
The Philippine National Police (PNP), alongside the City Department of Public Order and Safety, the City Traffic and Transport Management Department, and Task Force Disiplina, will monitor compliance and take action against violators.
In addition to the liquor ban, the local government has suspended classes in all public and private schools citywide to accommodate the event.
To manage heavy traffic expected around the Batasang Pambansa Complex, local authorities will also implement special road measures.
Zipper lanes will be opened along Elliptical Road/Philcoa toward Sandiganbayan, as well as from Doña Carmen to IBP Litex, to facilitate smooth travel for government officials and invited guests attending the presidential address.
