Dino, the youngest member of the K-pop powerhouse SEVENTEEN, is officially stepping into the spotlight as his beloved alter ego, Picheolin.
Pledis Entertainment announced that the character will release an extended play titled “吉BOARD (Gilboard)” on August 3.
The project is a nostalgic nod to 1990s Korean street music culture. The term “Gilboard”—a play on Billboard using the Korean word gil (street)—originally referred to the era’s popular unofficial cassette compilations and street charts.
According to Pledis Entertainment:
”Gil” also means “good fortune,” and combined with the word “board,” the album captures Picheolin’s ambition to “turn the streets into his stage, spreading joy and prosperity to all through his music.”
Picheolin first captured fans’ hearts during SEVENTEEN’s 2021 fan meeting. Ahead of the debut, HYBE Labels and SEVENTEEN released a trailer showcasing the character’s “evolution,” featuring Picheolin as everything from a prehistoric figure to a hero from the future.
This solo venture follows SEVENTEEN’s recent visit to the Philippines in March, where they headlined the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan as part of their “New_” world tour.
