TV5’S ‘MOMMY GUARD’ SETS NETFLIX PREMIERE ON OCTOBER 16

MANILA, Philippines — TV5’s upcoming romantic comedy series Mommy Guard, headlined by ’90s love team Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin, is set to premiere on Netflix on October 16, giving audiences another opportunity to enjoy the popular tandem’s long-awaited return to television.

The series will make its television debut on October 19, airing Mondays through Fridays at 2:30 p.m. on TV5 and across participating ABS-CBN platforms. The project brings together the enduring MarJo pairing in a lighthearted family drama that combines romance, humor and relatable everyday challenges.

Directed by Roman Perez Jr., Mommy Guard follows Tina Dimaapi, played by Magdangal, a dedicated single mother determined to provide a better future for her son, Happy, portrayed by Amo Wilding. Her life takes an unexpected turn after she encounters Pio Areola, played by Agustin, a school principal who becomes connected to her search for better educational opportunities for her child.

When Tina discovers that she cannot afford the school’s tuition, she accepts a position as a security guard at the institution. Her new job brings her into regular contact with Pio, leading to amusing exchanges, unexpected friendships and the possibility of romance.

Beyond its romantic storyline, the series explores parenthood, children’s experiences, family relationships and the importance of communities supporting one another through life’s difficulties.

Magdangal and Agustin’s reunion also draws on the nostalgia surrounding their celebrated love team, which has entertained Filipino audiences since the 1990s. Their latest collaboration follows their appearance together in the 2025 romantic comedy film Ex Ex Lovers.

During the series’ promotional activities, the stars expressed enthusiasm for working together again and bringing a blend of comedy, romance and emotional moments to viewers. Magdangal has described the production as a family-oriented story that reflects the experiences of parents and children, while Agustin highlighted its lively, ’90s-inspired atmosphere.

The supporting cast includes Nathalie Apollo, Cedrick Juan, Dominic Ochoa, Roxanne Guinoo, Susan Africa, Soliman Cruz, Pearl Gonzalez and Ruby Ruiz, among other performers.

With its combination of a familiar on-screen partnership, family-centered storytelling and lighthearted entertainment, Mommy Guard aims to offer viewers a feel-good viewing experience while highlighting the value of friendship, perseverance and finding happiness amid everyday struggles.

The Netflix premiere on October 16 will precede the series’ weekday television run beginning October 19, expanding opportunities for audiences to follow the latest chapter in the enduring MarJo partnership.
