K-pop idol Jeongyeon has officially concluded her exclusive contract with long-time agency JYP Entertainment to pursue an acting career, though she will remain an active member of TWICE.
Addressing fans directly via an Instagram post, Jeongyeon revealed that she is “now preparing to start a new chapter in a new place.”
She expressed deep gratitude toward JYP Entertainment for their years of support while offering reassurance to the group’s fanbase.
”Standing before ONCE as a member of TWICE will always be my very first priority,” she wrote. “I will prepare step by step with all my heart, both for my journey as TWICE’s Jeongyeon, whom you have loved so much, and for the new challenges ahead as Yu Jeongyeon.”
This marks the first instance of a TWICE member departing JYP Entertainment following the unanimous contract renewals by all nine members in 2022.
Following her departure, Jeongyeon signed an exclusive contract with Varo Entertainment, the talent agency that currently represents her older sister, actress Gong Seung-yeon.
Varo Entertainment officially confirmed the partnership to manage her acting endeavors.
”We are truly delighted to form a precious relationship with Yu Jeongyeon, who possesses diverse charms and infinite potential,” the agency said.
