The World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM) has announced a ₱3-billion expansion project designed to significantly boost its capacity and accommodate the growing demand for large-scale international business events and trade fairs.
The redevelopment will more than double the venue’s indoor exhibition space, increasing it from the current 8,300 square meters (sqm) to nearly 20,000 sqm. To facilitate this massive indoor growth, the center’s outdoor event space will be scaled down slightly from 8,200 sqm to roughly 7,000 sqm.
WTCMM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Pamela Pascual noted that this major financial investment underscores the organization’s dedication to positioning the Philippines as a top-tier destination for global gatherings.
“It reflects our confidence in the market, our commitment to helping our partners scale, and our determination to ensure that the Philippines remains competitive in attracting major regional and international events,” she said.
According to management, the upgrade directly addresses the needs of event planners whose conventions and trade shows continue to expand in audience size and operational complexity.
The project will offer a highly versatile environment suited for major industrial exhibitions and international conferences.
The modernized center is expected to draw in new international event organizers while allowing long-standing flagship exhibitions to expand their footprint. WTCMM emphasized that the strategic value of the project extends far beyond simple physical expansion.
“More than just additional space, the expansion is envisioned to elevate the Philippines’ position as a competitive destination for international exhibitions and business events,” said WTCMM.
The company further explained that the upgraded infrastructure will solidify the nation’s standing in the highly competitive meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector.
“With increased capacity and improved infrastructure, WTCMM is poised to welcome more foreign organizers, attract global trade shows, and further strengthen the country’s footprint in the regional and international MICE landscape,” it said.
The expansion is scheduled for completion by 2028, and advanced bookings for the new spaces are set to open in the near future.
Established in 1996, WTCMM has previously hosted premier global events, including the ASEAN and APEC summits.
The venue operates as part of the Investment & Capital Corporation of the Philippines (ICCP), a diverse conglomerate with holdings in investment banking, industrial townships, and event facility management.
