TOKYO, Japan — In a landmark moment for the global anime community, two of Japan’s most iconic animated franchises are set to cross paths as Detective Conan and Star Detective Precure join forces for a historic two part crossover television event.
The production committees for both series have announced the unprecedented collaboration, which will see beloved characters from each franchise enter the other’s universe. Industry sources, including Crunchyroll News and Anime News Network, describe the event as a rare feat given that the properties are owned by different manga publishers, produced by rival animation studios, and broadcast on competing networks.
Crossover Episode Details and Broadcast Schedule
The event will unfold over two consecutive weeks, with each series featuring a special episode during its usual weekend morning timeslot:
- May 31, 2026 — Star Detective Precure (Episode 18: “Great Detectives Assemble”) Conan Edogawa, Ran Mouri, and Kogoro Mouri guest star as Anna and Mikuru investigate the disappearance of a glass slipper artifact at the Hosho Museum in Makotomirai City.
- June 6, 2026 — Detective Conan (Episode: “The Hanamaru Answer”) Cure Answer appears to help the Junior Detective League as they uncover the truth behind a string of robberies connected to Ayumi’s favorite anime and a local jewelry store.
Behind the Scenes: Navigating Industry Barriers
Bringing Detective Conan, which is animated by TMS Entertainment and published by Shogakukan, and Precure, a Toei Animation original broadcasting on the ANN Network, together required complex negotiations and creative collaboration.
Detective Conan producer Goshi Yoshida recounted early talks with ABC Animation’s Kanako Tada, who revealed the detective theme for the 2026 Precure series. Despite different networks, studios, and broadcast partners, both teams recognized the potential of the event to thrill fans worldwide.
As part of the television event, a special promotional message from the Precure cast will also appear in the Next Conan’s Hint segment to tease the upcoming crossover.
