ABS-CBN Corporation has officially pushed back against the recent legal actions taken by Lopez Inc. President and CEO Federico “Piki” Lopez.
In a press statement released Friday, May 8, the media giant acknowledged that Piki Lopez has filed an appeal with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate alleged “financial mismanagement” within the company. The complaint targets the leadership of ABS-CBN Chairman Mark Lopez, President and CEO Carlo Katigbak, and CFO Rick Tan.
The network firmly rejected the allegations, emphasizing that the Board of Directors has consistently commended the dedication of its staff, crew, and talents in keeping the network operational—a sentiment they noted has faced no internal opposition until now.
Management suggested that rather than airing grievances publicly, Piki Lopez should attend the network’s board meetings to discuss his concerns directly. The media firm further characterized his public accusations as “unfair” to the employees of the network.
The statement concluded with a sharp rebuke, clarifying that the majority of the Lopez family agrees that internal issues within Lopez Inc. should remain separate from the operations of the media network.
“Huwag na po sanang idamay ang ABS-CBN sa isang away na hindi naman amin,” the station asserted.
As of press time, the camp of Piki Lopez has yet to issue a response to the network’s statement.
