Former child star and acclaimed singer-songwriter Ice Seguerra has officially taken on a new role as one of the directors of the iconic noontime show “Eat… Bulaga!”.
The milestone was announced by TVJ Productions on Wednesday, May 27, through a social media post showing Seguerra at the helm inside the program’s technical control room.
“First day as Director ng Eat Bulaga ni Direk Ice 🫶,” the production company captioned.
Seguerra’s history with the longest-running noontime variety show dates back to 1987, when he first captured the nation’s heart as a breakout contestant in the popular “Little Miss Philippines” segment—a stint that launched his decades-long career in showbiz.
Reflecting on his directorial debut, Seguerra admitted to feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety transitioning from stage shows to a daily live broadcast.
“It’s my first day on the job!! I had trouble sleeping the past few days dahil sa kakaisip. While I’m used to directing concerts, live TV is totally different animal. I have more to learn but I think today was a good day,” Seguerra shared.
He also expressed his deep appreciation to the production management and crew, recognizing the lifelong guidance he has received from the team since his childhood days on the show.
“I want to thank Ate Jeny for the trust na kaya kong gawin Ito. Tita Poochie, mula 3 years old ako, you’ve been guiding me at hanggang ngayon, ikaw pa rin ang gabay ko sa bagong journey na Ito. To my controlmates, especially our CamTD Paul, thank you for making it easy for me,” he added.
“Eat… Bulaga!” continues to reach audiences six days a week, airing Mondays through Fridays at 12:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:25 a.m. across TV5, RPTV, and Kapatid Channel, as well as via the official livestreams of TVJ Productions.
