GMA News has secured a major international milestone after placing third in the latest Tubular Leadership Worldwide Rankings, making it the highest-ranked Philippine news organization on the global stage.
According to the April 2026 report by video analytics firm Tubular Labs, the network accumulated 3.6 billion video views across its official digital channels. This massive surge in viewership propelled GMA News from the 40th spot in March to the top three worldwide in just one month.
The network’s performance places it alongside the world’s leading news publishers. GMA News ranked just behind the United States’ Fox News, which secured 6.7 billion views, and India’s NDTV, which garnered 4 billion views.
With this achievement, the Philippine media giant surpassed prominent international outlets such as CNN, BBC News, and Al Jazeera.
A significant portion of the network’s digital traffic came from social media platforms. Instagram led the engagement with 2.9 billion views, followed by Facebook with 569 million views, and YouTube with 119 million views.
The spike in viewership was largely driven by extensive livestream coverage of major domestic and international events. High-interest stories included updates on the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, congressional inquiries into the fuel and energy situation amid US-Iran tensions, and coverage of the historic Artemis II lunar mission.
GMA News continues to scale up its digital-first strategy by investing in mobile journalism and producing tailored online content. Specialized segments like “Explainers by GMA News” and “What We Know So Far” have been instrumental in breaking down complex issues for digital audiences.
Additionally, the network’s growing digital reach has been bolstered by user-generated content via YouScoop+, as well as quick-consumption formats like “News: Pinned” and digital quote cards, driving stronger audience engagement across multiple platforms.
