Film and television director Lino Cayetano formally took his oath of office on Thursday as the newly appointed general manager of the state-run People’s Television Network (PTV-4).
Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that Acting Communications Secretary Dave Gomez administered the oath-taking ceremony.
“Magiging mahalagang bahagi si General Manager Cayetano sa patuloy na pagpapalakas ng organisasyon at sa pagsusulong ng mandato ng PCO at ng PTV,” Castro said.
Gomez previously announced that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. selected Cayetano to head the government broadcasting station, succeeding veteran television executive Malou Choa-Fagar.
Cayetano belongs to a well-known political dynasty. He is the younger sibling of Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano and Senator Pia Cayetano, and the son of the late former Senator Renato “Rene” Cayetano.
Prior to entering public service in this capacity, Cayetano established a prominent career in show business. He directed numerous primetime television dramas for major networks and spent over ten years serving as a director and creative consultant for ABS-CBN Corporation.
His extensive background in television production is anticipated to drive efforts to modernize the state broadcaster’s content, programming, and overall organizational strategy.
