PASAY CITY, Philippines — Arriving international passengers can now convert select foreign currencies into Philippine pesos through a newly deployed self-service kiosk at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
In an announcement on Tuesday, October 6, BDO Unibank Inc. stated that the automated currency exchange machine operates 24/7, enabling travelers to exchange cash without filling out paper forms or queuing for bank teller assistance.
The kiosk accepts United States dollars, euros, and Japanese yen. Equipped with real-time bill authentication technology, the unit can process up to 30 banknotes per transaction, dispensing local currency in both bills and coins along with a printed receipt.
To complete a transaction, users choose their preferred currency, agree to the service terms, scan their passport, and complete an automated photo capture for identity verification. Once the foreign banknotes are inserted, the user confirms the conversion value to receive the equivalent pesos.
The machine is situated right past immigration clearance, situated in front of the BDO branch in the Terminal 3 arrival zone.
Cora Mallillin, BDO executive vice president and branch banking group head, highlighted that the initiative aims to enhance convenience for passengers entering the country.
“Travelers today expect convenience at every touchpoint of their journey,” Mallillin said.
“With the launch of the currency exchange machine, we’re giving customers greater flexibility and control over their foreign exchange (forex) needs. In just a few simple steps, they can securely access peso with no delays,” she added.
According to the bank, the installation aligns with shifting consumer preferences toward digital and automated self-service financial solutions in high-density travel hubs.
“As consumer preferences continue to shift toward digital and automated experiences, BDO remains at the forefront of providing easy, simple, and secure access to competitively priced local currency,” the bank said.
