Filipinos traveling to their home provinces or visiting cemeteries for the observance of All Saints’ Day on Sunday, November 1, are advised to prepare for possible rain showers and thunderstorms in several areas, particularly in Northern Luzon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA reported that a shear line was affecting mainland Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, and Isabela, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms.
The weather bureau warned that moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall could cause flash floods and landslides in areas affected by the weather disturbance.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, is influencing the rest of Northern Luzon. Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Benguet are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will also have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. PAGASA cautioned that severe thunderstorms could result in flash floods or landslides.
The agency urged the public to remain vigilant against sudden heavy downpours, especially those traveling to their provinces or visiting cemeteries to commemorate All Saints’ Day.
For wind conditions, light to moderate winds from the northeast to east are expected over Luzon and the Visayas, while Mindanao will experience winds coming from the southeast to east.
