Actor and Team Viva One player Lance Carr suffered a major injury during the inaugural Viva All-Star Games held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The incident occurred early in the main men’s basketball matchup between Team Viva One and Team Viva Records. Less than two minutes into the opening quarter, Carr landed awkwardly following an attempt to shoot, causing him to fall to the court in visible pain.
Due to the severity of the fall, medical personnel rushed Carr from the venue directly to the hospital for urgent medical evaluation. Following examinations, the actor took to social media to confirm the extent of the damage.
”Complete ACL tear,” Carr shared in a post on X.
An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear represents a severe knee injury that typically requires surgery and an extensive rehabilitation period before an athlete can safely return to physical sports activity.
Prior to the main event, Carr had expressed enthusiasm about participating in the company’s first-ever celebrity sports showcase.
”Saktong ready lang,” Carr stated during the pre-event press conference. “I’m doing training to get my body into basketball condition. Of course, we’re very excited now that the All-Star Games are just around the corner, especially since this is the first time Viva will be holding an All-Star Games.”
Despite the early setback to Team Viva One, the exhibition game proceeded as Viva Records ultimately secured the victory in the inaugural event.
