The Las Piñas City government has achieved another perfect 100-percent rating in the Fisheries Compliance Audit (FishCA), marking a major milestone for its coastal management and sustainable marine governance.
Mayor April Aguilar announced the achievement following the Final Feedbacking to Coastal Local Government Units (LGUs), which took place via a Zoom teleconference on June 17.
According to city officials, the perfect score highlights Las Piñas’ continuous efforts to safeguard marine ecosystems and ensure the responsible handling of its coastal resources. Mayor Aguilar credited the milestone to the dedicated efforts of the city administration, particularly the City Agriculture Office, in enforcing environmental laws, protecting fisheries, and strengthening local coastal policy.
The city’s turnaround is notable given its recent history. After receiving a low performance score in 2020, Las Piñas rapidly overhauled its environmental programs, leading to its second consecutive perfect evaluation.
Thanks to this top-tier performance, Las Piñas has once again been nominated for National Validation, marking the second straight year the city has advanced to the prestigious nationwide assessment phase.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Las Piñas Field Office praised the city government and its partner agencies for the strong teamwork that led to the achievement.
Local officials emphasized that the honor highlights the success of their environmental programs and shows how vital collaboration between local leaders, national agencies, and community members is to protecting coastal wealth for future generations.
