NLEX, GINEBRA AND TITAN ULTRA POSITIONED FOR TOP SPOTS IN PBA SEASON 51 ROOKIE DRAFT

MANILA — As the final week of the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup eliminations unfolds, NLEX, Barangay Ginebra, and Titan Ultra are strategically positioning themselves to secure prime selections in the upcoming Season 51 Rookie Draft.

Based on preliminary and unofficial computations, Titan Ultra, Terrafirma, and the Blackwater Bossing—should Blackwater formally exit playoff contention—currently occupy the projected top three draft spots.

Among these three teams, only the Giant Risers retain ownership of their original first-round pick, whereas the Dyip and the Bossing previously traded away their selection rights.

Meanwhile, the already-qualified NLEX Road Warriors stand to strengthen their core next year by holding Blackwater’s premier pick, a condition stemming from the 2024 trade involving Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser. Barangay Ginebra is similarly positioned as an interested observer, holding Terrafirma’s top selection as a result of the Maverick Ahanmisi trade last year.

Draft positioning is calculated using a weighted format across the season’s three conferences, allocating 40 percent to the Philippine Cup and 30 percent each to the Commissioner’s and Governors’ Cups. Blackwater’s narrow path to the quarterfinals relies on a victory by Phoenix over Ginebra followed by a blowout win against the Kings on Friday, having dropped to a 125–123 loss against Rain or Shine.

A failure to advance could land the Bossing the top draft choice due to lower finishes across previous conferences, though a playoff berth would significantly alter the draft order.

Terrafirma and Titan Ultra finished closely in preliminary computations, with Terrafirma projected to receive the higher selection owing to a lower finish in the Philippine Cup compared to the Giant Risers.
