OPM MUSIC COUNTDOWN ‘VIBE’ CELEBRATES PRIDE MONTH WITH STAR-STUDDED PERFORMANCES

​The local music countdown show VIBE dedicated its latest episode to celebrating Pride Month, delivering a vibrant night centered on self-expression, freedom, authenticity, and Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

The special “VIBE PRIDE” broadcast kicked off with a massive opening production featuring the show’s resident hosts, known as VIBE JOCKS, alongside special guests and fashion designers.

VIBE JOCK Maxie opened the segment with a rendition of Gloc-9’s “Sirena,” followed by a powerful vocal performance of Regine Velasquez’s “Narito Ako” by VIBE JOCK Ana, Gen V’s Carmela, and the dance group O2MEN.

Adding a touch of hip-hop, VIBE JOCK Joao joined Juan Caoile and Kyleswish for a performance of the hit song “Marikit.”

The opening segment concluded with a “Love Laban” performance led by Maxie, featuring prominent local drag artists. The lineup included Drag Race Philippines alumni M1ss Jade So and Viñas Deluxe, alongside Drag Den Philippines stars Deja, Feyvah Fatale, and Russia Fox.

Spotlight on Emerging Talent

The celebration continued during the “VIBE SPOT” segment, which highlights rising artists. Outgoing featured artist Limuel Llanes delivered a heartwarming vocal performance before passing the “VIBE SPOT of the Week” title to fierce transpinay artist Catalea, who showcased her rapping skills.

Reflecting on the significance of the month, Catalea emphasized that the one voice worth fighting for is “equality and transparency” for the entire LGBTQIA+ community.

Meanwhile, Llanes expressed his immense gratitude for the opportunity to showcase his talent on the VIBE stage.

OPM Icons Return for ‘OG Nights’

The episode also paid tribute to the rich history of OPM during its “OG NIGHTS” segment, bringing veteran musicians back to the television screen.

  • The Boyfriends: The legendary group performed their classic hit “Salawahan” and teamed up with Maxie for a collaborative performance of “First Love (Never Dies).” The band reflected on their musical journey and shared how they became one of the most requested radio artists of past decades.
  • Mike Luis: The former Freestyle member took the stage to perform “Iba Ka Na Pala Ngayon.” He shared how privileged he feels to have played with numerous great bands over the years while continuing to release his own solo work.
  • Repakol & VIBE JOCK Dylan: The duo teamed up for an energetic performance of “Ituloy Mo Lang.” Both artists noted it was an honor to perform the uplifting track during Pride Month, with Repakol expressing gratitude to the fans who continue to appreciate their music.
  • Miguel Vera: Marking his first Philippine television appearance in 21 years after residing in the United States, Vera made a highly anticipated comeback to perform “Ako’y Naririto” and “Nais Ko.” Vera admitted he initially thought the invitation from the show’s talent coordinator was a scam, but expressed joy over the fans’ requests and confirmed he is returning to the country for good.
  • Rannie Raymundo: The OPM hitmaker closed out the legendary lineup with his classic track “Why Can’t It Be.” Raymundo expressed happiness over the growing number of younger OPM songwriters and left the next generation with an encouraging message.

“Be brave, be bold, be original. ‘Wag kayong matakot. Its about your identity, finding your voice, Stick with it,” Raymundo said.

Fan voting for the “MAIN VIBE” and “UPRISING” charts remains open on VIBE’s official voting platforms until Thursday, June 11, at 11:59 AM. VIBE broadcasts daily on TV5, One PH, True TV, and the Kapatid Channel, and is also available via online streaming.
