MASASHI KISHIMOTO ANNOUNCES BRAND-NEW ‘NARUTO’ MANGA AT NEW YORK COMIC CON 2026

Over a decade after concluding the original flagship series in 2014, Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto is officially returning to write and illustrate a brand-new Naruto manga. The announcement was unveiled during the “NARUTO: What’s Next?” special panel at New York Comic Con (NYCC) on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

The reveal was headlined by a “Super Teaser” video showcasing Kishimoto’s original storyboards. The footage opens at the iconic Hokage Rock in the Hidden Leaf Village displaying the carved faces of the first six Hokage while showing the seventh Hokage’s monument currently under construction.

The teaser offers a look at new character designs for adult Team 7, including Naruto wearing the Hokage hat, a smiling Kakashi, a dignified Sasuke, and Sakura holding a baby. The promotional video climaxes with a dramatic confrontation between Naruto and Sasuke before officially confirming the project, which carries the provisional working title Naruto: Shadow Rising.

Full serialization details including the official story timeline, launch dates, and publication format will be revealed during the Naruto Jump Super Stage at Jump Festa 2027, scheduled for December 19–20, 2026, at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.

The upcoming manga forms the centerpiece of “Project Rasengan,” a massive global multimedia push celebrating the franchise across multiple entertainment sectors. As part of this initiative, an anime four-part NARUTO x NINKŪ crossover special is being supervised directly by Kishimoto and Ninku creator Koji Kiriyama. Additionally, Lionsgate’s feature-length live-action Naruto adaptation, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), remains actively in development, while the worldwide launch of the official Naruto Card Game is slated for release in June 2027.
