Toei Animation’s Star Detective Precure! The Movie: The Mysterious Garden and the Secret of the Two has made franchise history, logging the biggest three-day opening box office weekend in the 22-year history of the Precure series.
Opening across 348 theaters in Japan on September 18, 2026, the feature film generated 445.6 million yen (approximately $2.84 million USD) from 357,612 ticket admissions during its first three days in theaters. On its opening Friday alone, the movie crossed the 100-million-yen threshold—marking the first time a Precure theatrical release has achieved the milestone on its debut day.
The debut performance surpasses the previous franchise opening record set by 2023’s Precure All Stars F, which registered 356,925 admissions and 437 million yen over its initial three-day run before concluding its box office run at 1.54 billion yen. Following the record-setting start, Toei Animation confirmed that Star Detective Precure! The Movie will expand to immersive 4DX theater formats across Japan starting October 2, 2026.
While the Star Detective Precure! television series is currently broadcast globally via Crunchyroll, Toei Animation has not officially announced international theatrical distribution plans for overseas territories, including the Philippines.
Historically, standalone Precure feature films see limited theatrical runs outside East Asia, with overseas fans primarily accessing new feature releases through home video or digital streaming platforms following the Japanese theatrical window. Although local distributors occasionally bring major anime films to Philippine theaters for limited fan screenings, no formal announcement has been issued regarding a local cinematic release for Star Detective Precure!
